Our Story

Background

First and foremost, you should know that Beth and I are not the classic dyed in the wool sailors that most folks associate with sailors. Nope, we are far from that.

Beth and I met in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1997 and at that time, neither of us had ever really heard of sailing or had any interest in it whatsoever.  However, today we find ourselves living on our Seawind 1260 catamaran with the best little crewmate ever, Bailey, our 23 lb mini Australian pup.  We call Bailey "The Admiral" because he pretty much runs the show around here!

We lost our first pup, Bandit, in 2011 and decided to take sailing lessons as a way to find something to take our minds off of our loss. This was our second set of lessons together and after this particular set of lessons with Colgate Sailing, Beth was hooked!

Armed with our newfound sailing certifications, Beth and I chartered boats in Pensacola, Tampa and four times in the BVIs. As our sailing skillsets grew, so did our love for the "cruising" life of sailing. We've been planning, saving and sacrificing since 2012 to make our sailing dreams become a reality and now here we are!
